UCP of Central Florida to Honor Darden Restaurants for Longstanding Support of the Special Needs Community
1/14/2008
ORLANDO, Fla. - UCP of Central Florida has selected Darden Restaurants as the 2008 Jack Holloway Star of Gratitude recipient for their longstanding support of the special needs community. Each year, UCP honors a company and/or individual who, through their community and philanthropic efforts, expresses their passion for helping children reach their full potential, no matter how large or small their disability may be.
Throughout the years, Darden has helped UCP increase the number of children served through grants, special events, matching employee contributions and volunteer service. Contributions have helped UCP fund two new centers, establish and maintain quality early intervention educational services for children with special needs, and staff its six centers.
“The efforts of Darden Restaurants have helped mold the lives of thousands of children and families in our community”, said Ilene Wilkins, president and CEO of UCP of Central Florida. “Through their support, children with special needs, and their families, are able to receive our set of services in a safe, nurturing environment; and for that we are very grateful.”
Darden will receive the award March 1, 2008 at An Evening at the Palace, UCP’s 15th annual gala. Hosted by actress Cheryl Hines, the event includes a four-course gourmet meal, a silent and live auction and entertainment.
Corporate tables and individual seats are available. For information visit www.ucpcfl.org.
